If you are interested in adopting one of our pets featured on this site, please first submit an adoption application.  We will do a basic screening and contact you afterwards to make further arrangements if you are approved.  We reserve the right to refuse any application.  Please understand that Alcovy Pet Rescue, Inc. is volunteer based and it may be several days before we are able to respond.  We will not respond if the application is incomplete or does not include a vet reference.  Most of our volunteers work full time jobs and are unable to provide the time to make the 100’s of requests to call that we get by email.  Contacting us by email is the best method of contact.   alcovypet@gmail.com

The first step to adopt is to fill out an adoption application.  Your application has to be processed, which includes calling your veterinary  references to check on how you have cared for past/current pets.  We will not consider applications that do not have a vet reference.  We will also may schedule a home visit to see your home and to see where the dog or cat will be living.  This is not a quick process.  Be patient.  We want to assure that our pets are placed in appropriate homes and will never return to life on the streets or death row ever again.  You will be expected to sign a contract that covers what we expect from you as a responsible pet caretaker.  We want what is best for our rescues and the best match for everyone involved.  These animals have been through enough already and should be loved and cared for the rest of their lives.  However, if any animal adopted from us begins to present problems or you have unexpected problems, we ALWAYS take them back into our rescue program.  Adoption applications do not obligate you to adopt, but are a required first step prior to discussing/interviewing for/meeting a potential pet.

There is an adoption fee which helps cover the expense our rescue incurs while providing excellent vet care to all of our animals that come into our care and other expenses, including food, grooming if required, etc…
